Happy Thanksgiving from Dallas.

Lissy and I are in Dallas, spending the holiday with her family.
As seems to be the standard policy of the holiday, we ate dinner at what is generally a lunch time where I come from. We had dinner eaten and the table cleared before the opening kick off of the game.

Well, as is also pretty common, we got hungry later in the day. So, after we got back to the hotel, I went out to find some more food. I happened to stop at someplace called "May Dragon," in Addison.

While there, I came to realize the the person who took my order was Joe Chow, the Mayor of Addison, TX.
I have to admit that this is the first time that I have ever purchased Chinese food from a mayor.

I will say that Mayor Chow slings some great food.

What did you do?

I want your money.

Well, at least the cool artistically modified stuff. I have started a web gallery of modified money, quirky quid and doodled dollars. It is called doodledollars.com.
I would really appreciate some submissions, so if you have any doodled dollars, send a scan and a story to submissions@doodledollars.com or post them in our flickr pool at http://www.flickr.com/groups/doodledollars/

There are communities in every state that seem to exist only in that they are speed traps. Johnson, AR is one of those places.
I created it in google sketchup. I used the Police chase by Speedn model as a starting point. I created the billboard in the GiMP and Melissa took the background image while we were searching for tornado damage a few months ago. Let me know what you think.

Brown Recluse

I woke up with this little guy less than 2 feet from my head this morning. We moved him into the sink so that I could get a good photo. There is a pretty big version available if you want to zoom in and see the fiddle on his back, which is indicative of his being a Brown Recluse. They are really common here, a "normal" house spider. There are more mis-diagnosed recluse bites in California than real bites in all area where recluse spiders actually live combined.

I have a big version on flickr if you want to see more detail, including it's "fiddle" on it's back.

Spam recycler

I don't know if anyone on my friends list reads the Popular Science blog. They had an article up there today about a web application that recycles your spam messages into artwork. All you have to do forward your spam message to spam@spamrecycling.com and they will send you a link to a flash page that will help you create your artwork. I can't really do this justice, so why don't you forward a spam message over there and check it out for yourself. Posted by Picasa
